Hi guys, hope you can help me out with my issue.
I've build a new PC and used a Z170-P motherboard. Bought 2 Kingston 16GB DDR4 memory modules. The PC would not boot, it would't even post to the BIOS. Tried all the different slots but no success. In the end, bought a 4GB memory module, just to see if it was a memory (compatibility) issue. This resulted in a bootable PC. Now I could enter the BIOS. Just to test, I put the two 16GB modules also on the motherboard and booted into the BIOS.

What I was seeing there, kind of surprised me.
It seems that the motherboard recognizes the 16GB modules, but will not initialize them? The memory slots show all three modules, but the total memory shows only 4GB's.

Can anyone tell me what's going on and if I can make the 16GB modules work, maybe by adjusting some settings?

Specs:
Kingston KVR21N15S8/4 4GB Module DDR4 2133Mhz ValueRAM
Kingston KVR21R15D4/16 16GB Module DDR4 2133MHz ValueRAM
Kingston KVR21R15D4/16 16GB Module DDR4 2133MHz ValueRAM
Motherboard ASUS Z170-P

Thanks for any help !

Hi guys, just to inform you, got an aswer from Kingston:

Please note that the KVR21R15D4/16 are Registered ECC modules which are designed for use with supported Server Motherboards.

The KVR21N15S8/4 4GB are Unbuffered non ECC modules which are designed for supported Desktop Motherboards.

There are 2 reasons why the 2 different modules can not work together.

1 They use a different technology and can not be used in the same Motherboard.
2 The ASUS Z170-P motherboard does not support any Registered ECC Modules

The 16 GB Kingston modules are Registered ECC which is unsupported by your motherboard.

Your motherboard supports only DDR4 Non-ECC DIMMs.
