Hi guys,

I'm planning to purchase a PC for my brother. He wants to play the upcoming gaming titles such as Far cry Primal & existing ones like Witcher. I've been reading a lot on your forums for information but based on that info I don't think any rig that can provide a decent gaming experience on 1080p will suit my budget. Hence, aiming for 720p.

Approximate Purchase Date:- 1-2 weeks

Budget Range:- 375-450 USD or 25k-30k INR (Just for the case)

System Usage from Most to Least Important:- Numbering the usage in order of priority with 1 being the highest priority. 1. Gaming 2. Normal Office work & Internet Surfing (basic programs such as excel and chrome to be used) 3. Light Home entertainment usage for watching movies and videos.

Parts Not Required: -Monitor, UPS, speakers, keyboard, mouse

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:- Amazon.in & Local retailers (Some local retailers claim to be able to arrange the parts not available only. So recommendations for parts which aren't available online in India is also welcome)

Country:- India

Parts Preferences:- No such preferences I guess

Overclocking:- Maybe

SLI or Crossfire:- If the cost of the rig doesn't increase greatly, it would be nice to have an option

Monitor Resolution:- going for 720p (1280x720) because of budget limitation but a higher resolution would be a pleasant bonus

Additional Comments:- Would prefer a cool looking case, that's all :D

Thanks a lot in advance!

30k for a cpu is a decent budget. while it will not set the performance charts on fire, the below build exceeds your expectations of 720p, and comes very close to fulfilling 1080p performance at medium settings.

07,500 CPU: I3 4xxx Haswell LGA 1150 socket (4130..4160, etc.)
05,500 Mob: B85(M) LGA 1150 socket motherboard from MSI/Gigabyte/Asrock
02,000 RAM: 1600 MHz C9 4 GB from Corsair (valueselect)/GSkill (Ripjaws)
10,000 GPU: Nvidia GTX 750 Ti from Gigabyte/MSI/Asus
03,500 HDD: 7200 RPM 3.5" 1 TB internal drive from Seagate (barracuda)
01,000 ODD: LG DVD R/W
03,000 PSU: 80+ bronze certified 430 - 500 w from Cirsair (CX series)/Antec (VP series)
02,500 Case: mid-tower ATX cabinet from Antec (X series)/Cooler master (CMP sereis)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
35,000 half life's elegant build
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes:
- prices are approximate
- a good ups 600 (kva) compliments the build nicely; not included in the build
- I recommend buying in store rather than online due to genuineness, shipping damages, warranty, returns, etc
- it is a good idea in the long run to buy the operating system than installing a pirated one; not included in the build

Hi, Thank you guys for the responses. As I see both of you recommend investing around 30% of the rig's price in Graphics card. Is this a bit high? Should I go for a better processor and tone down the graphics card?

Thanks for the clarification. Btw, do you own the rig you posted? If you do, it would be really helpful if you can tell me some FPS statistics of some of the games you play :D

No I don't own the system . Now some games will require a quad core processor . This processor is only dual core but can be over clocked easily with the board I recommended.
Depends if you want Intel or AMD
The processor might stutter on games that are cpu intense so put your load on your gpu and oc your cpu.
But AMD offers the x4 860K quad core that won't stutter .
Dual core will not run far cry or the games you listed . This is where AMD comes into place . I fix the build for you . Those games require a quad core

I own the build that I posted, but that is not necessary to give advise. Build recommendation needs a budget and usage both which you shared.

Also, fps statistics arenfreely available for the games ifvyou can spend some time on the forums.

Lastly, as mentioned by the other user above, some latest games will refuset to launch due to underspecs, but most will work with the build I mentioned.

750 ti is the least you need to play decent games. But if you can afford some extra cash, you can upgrade to an i5 4430 or similar. Adds around 5k that's all.

I hope you are not considering increasing yuor budget now.

Hi thanks for the update. I just wanted to one last thing (curious). How do you judge whether a game will or will not even launch without a quad core processor?
