Just as the title suggests. I know many will simply say go with the 6500, but that is not my question. I know the GHzs and MHz aren't everything. Is there a reason to think that in 5-7 years that the i5 6400 (paired with a GPU of that time) would be physically unable to play the current selection of AAA titles at a minimum of 24 FPS at low/medium settings?

Personally, I can't tell the difference in games between 24+ FPS and I can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p...isn't most TV broadcast in 720 anyway? (I have an antenna) As a result, I'm not stating a resolution nor anything FPS wise better than what I might see on my TV.

Low/med? Even an i3 will handle most stuff for a while paired with a high end card or mid-range at those settings and res (that's the key there :p but will fall behind in 5 years, then again they said that 5 years ago with games and multicore support :p But it seems more true now; 6400 will definitely last 5 years at those settings fo sure.
