I hear people all the time say pc gaming is better than console gaming. So I decided to build my own pc at pcpartpicker.com, which is great. Problem is there are sooooo many parts to choose from. Its day 2 and I have still not decided on what type of cpu to buy. My budget is $1,500 dollars not including peripherals. I plan on using this pc for gaming and graphics mods for games. Also, I heard you can build a pc to have the framerate of games be 90 fps with ultra high settings. I would like to experience that too. I hope there some pc experts out there that can help.

its not just a good build, its ana amazing build!

you are just fine with that build you chose

the only thing that im not sure about is the motherboard.

it has bad reviews. try getting a better lga1151 board

just type LGA1151 motherboard on amazon and you should get a few to choose from

hmm where to begin..

its all about the specs of the pc specs, for example:

motherboard,
gfx card,
cpu,
power supply,
ram,
cpu cooler,
case

basically any noob would go on a site and just buy the most expensive (compatible) parts for a specific build , which works but the toughest part is maintenance of the build to keep it running smooth..

another thing is the compatibility which is more important

for example a ddr3 motherboard requires a ddr3 ram

a 1150 cpu socket requires a 1150 cpu etc

have you seen / used pcpartpicker? Great site for helping to sort out build ideas. I'll just throw in an example.

yeah, i'm using pcpartpicker right now. Also, I've been watching youtube videos all day. Mainly neweggs channel. The problem is I don't know what is going to be enough. For example, for a cpu I dont know what cpu will have me running the most demanding games at 90 fps.

for gaming you want an i5. Going i7 nets you some gains but at a huge price premium as most games have no idea how to use hyperthreading let alone all 4 cores. This may change in a few years if developers actually use DX12 and Vulcan correctly, but no guarantee on that. AMD really doesn't offer any competition to the i5 and i7 lineup at this time.

RAM you want a minimum of 8 gigs maybe 16 but going higher than that gives practically nothing in return for gaming usage.

GPU a GTX 970 should let you dominate at 1080p and high frame rate. I think (someone correct me) the AMD 390 is the equivalent.

Personally for me no. I never spend more that $200 on a motherboard but it really depends on what you want to do with the rig. For skylake (newest) builds the board rankings are
Z170 - the best and required for doing CPU overclocking (that's a K series CPU)
H170 - close to the Z series with the biggest difference being lack of overclocking
H110 - a budget minded board.
B110 - super budget minded

Also don't forget board sizes biggest to smallest. Most people use ATX or mATX. The big difference between the two is ATX will have 2+ PCI ports for more GPUs if you want to do SLI/Crossfire stuff. mATX will have a maximum of 2 PCI ports at most, usually just one.
eATX
ATX
mATX
ITX

A lot of boards tag themselves as 'for gamers' and add a bunch of useless crap or simply put a different color scheme on a board and charge you a $100 bucks more for it.
