Raised FSB too high and PC crashed, things seem slower on boot up

I raised my FSB from 200 - 300 because I made a foolish assumption that it was a mhz boost and suddenly my PC crashed after the temps were okay. Did I harm my PC in any way? Things seem a little slower however my temps are great and everything is detected.

What risks did I run by raising my FSB that high?

Everything is good now thankfully. My motherboard has been doing automatic overclock so I just stuck with that after having no luck overclocking my cpu.
