Solution
E8500 should work.

There are different 530's. Some support quads some don't so it is safe to go with 2Duo E8500 - not a bad CPU.

Do not forget to get new thermal paste when replacing the CPU.

Well to be quite honest with you within the last year ive really got interested in computers and bought myself this pc. I have already upgraded the ram from 3 gb to 6. I just basically would like to upgrade in all areas really to get the best out of my pc and so that it performs better. I would like to play games to. so eventually would want to get a better graphics card. Would you suggest second hand cpus. Because they go for really cheap?

Thank you for your reply i am very gratefull

Thats the readings im getting.

So if i install the e8500 and the computer dont boost then just put the old cpu back in update the bios and then re install the update?

http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/dell-0ry007-specs/

It does NOT support Quads so the E8500 is the strongest CPU you can put there (besides E8600 which is $10 more than E8500 but only marginally better so not worth it).

I CANNOT find any BIOS, any support page or any sort of service for that motherboard on manufacturer's website. Seems like you are stuck on the BIOS you have. Honestly, I doubt E8500 will not work. It will work, I am sure.

It will be a good upgrade for ya.

Some other upgrades to consider:
1) HDD --> SSD
2) Get a GPU.

ok cool are go for the e8600 as its a better model for the extra price. Could i just ask if i upgrade to the e8600 what differnces will i see in the pc? Also what is the HDD --> SSD
Get a GPU upgrade for? also can i upgrade the graphics card?

Once again thanks so much you really are so helpfull honestly

Just get the E8500 new for $23 while you are paying $40 for a new E8600: http://www.amazon.com/Intel-E8600-3-33GHz-Desktop-Processor/dp/B0046T44YO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1456279720&sr=8-1&keywords=e8600

If buying used, sure, go for it, you can find E8600 under $20 but buying new, it is NOT worth it to get E8600 over E8500. Difference will be so small.

If you upgrade to E8500, you will a jump in performance, less staggering as you increase your CPU power by more than 50%.

GPU upgrade depends on your budget. Yes, you can get a GPU. I see you do not have a dedicated one but are using an integrated one if your CPU. Make sure your PCIe slot is free which I see it is from the mobo specs (it shows slot availability as well). Another factor in getting a new GPU is the power supply you have. If you would like to open up your PC and look at the power supply - the model and brand. Maybe even send a screenshot so I see the clearance in the PC, all the slots, the cables, the setup. The PSU may be proprietary (meaning only Dell PSUs for that exact PC model will fit and no other).

Ok i can send you a picture in the morning once i wake. How would you like me to send it to you? But to be quite honest i believe the dell pc's are made so you can build on it and im sure i seen anoother spare power cable coming out of the cpu anyway. But yes if i took a picture and you could tell me what all the slots were for so i could upgrade it in anywhich way i can that would be so great. But how would you like me to send you the pic?
