Hallo im Mo

I have rarely had this problem before but i always fixed it using linuxlive

but now i am no longer using linux right now as i am trying to put the Lakka image file onto a usb so i can make another pc boot off of it.
http://www.lakka.tv/

I used 7zip and winrar, i used linuxlive, and win32 disk imager
32bit and 64bit versions of lakka but to no avail. If i use disk imager win 32 then i just ruin the drive and i have to reformat it from the dos terminal

If i just manually mount it or use another program it just says that Lakka is a corrupted file with 0 bytes of space taken up

does anyone have any idea why the image file keeps corrupting

Solution
As I said couple of posts before - after you create the USB disk, it will be in Linux format, and unreadable under Windows. What you get as a result above is completely expected behabiour, so just go ahead and try that USB stick.
Wild guess: That HP PC (Pentium D, i915, Radeon 200) is too old, and probably the USB key you made has a Linux kernel which does not support that old PC. Try booting your USB on something more modern (even the PC you are using to make it - booting off USB won't break your Windows).

but thats not the problem,
i cant make a bootable usb, the image keeps corrupting and i dont know why
ive used 7zip and winrar, and extracted using multiple different programs

i cant figure out the problem

The image file contains two partitions, and they are both Linux format - so, after making the USB, you won't see any files on it from Windows.
The original file is in .gz format. After uncompressing, you will get single file Lakka-Generic.i386-devel-20160206091726-r21311-geaf46ad.img. It is this file you open with Win32DiskImager, and "burn" onto USB.

ill try to find that file, because after uncompressing i am getting this
Lakka-Generic.x86_64-devel-20150307205641-r20834-ge8d52d6

I guess thats the wrong one?
Ill go search for the right one you mentioned

Alright i used that one and i get the same crap

what i dont think i am elaborating correctly is that i cant format the usb to even mount an image on it
im on the step before testing it on the designated pc

Can you suggest to me a format/formatter or whatever i need to fix this

1. Download your image from here
2. Use eg 7-Zip to extract that .gz file, you will get Lakka-Generic.i386-devel-20160206091726-r21311-geaf46ad.img, 306,184,192 bytes.
3. Use Win32 Disk Imager to "burn" above image to USB. You will not see anything on the USB from Windows after that
4. Pull that USB drive, plug it into your target PC, and boot. Make sure your PC can actually boot off USB (you might need to check the BIOS settings).
5. If the USB you've created does not work on the old PC, try it on a newer one.

alright, what do i do to the usb before i burn the image to it

what should it be formatted to

You do nothing special - Win32 Disk Imager will take care of reformatting and repartitionning the USB drive.

You have just to be very careful to choose the right drive letter where to "burn" the image (or your risk ruining the system you're working on).

cannot recognize Lakka F, volume may be corrupted, format disk?
when i press x on the tab it says

location is not available
F;\ is not accessible
the volume does not contain a recognized file system please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted
