So my friend recently asked me for advice on a pc build, his budget is £600 max and wants it to run games like Guild wars 2 at decent settings. We are in the UK and would prefer to buy from amazon.
Thanks in advance

Try to find a seagate 7200rpm disk then, might be cheaper. Black disks will last longer and have higher performance than the "blue" drive (the old Blue line was great, but WD just merged Green and Blue together and called it Blue, so cheap storage but underwhelming performance)

As for PSU, go with something made with a seasonic base, even something like EVGA GS line is good. They are a bit more expensive but far less likely to die (and you won't need to deal with issues). Silverstone Nightjar 520W might also be a good shoe-in, or almost anything from Seasonic
You're going to have a hard time with some games, but for that one:
i3 4360
h81 motherboard
8gb DDR3 1600 or 1866
2TB WD Black
Nvidia 750Ti
Cheap case like Corsair R200
EVGA 550W B2 (in case he upgrades GPU later)
Windows 10 Home OEM

Should come in just south of 600

Thanks for the reply, would you be able to give me an example of the games it could run? Like battlefield 4 for example?

It'll run everything out there in 1080p low settings at 60fps, and BF4 should run medium settings just fine at 1080p60. Things like Witcher 3 will probably still only be low settings (even a 980 has trouble keeping solid 60 at highest settings), but an ancient engine like guild war 2 should manage above medium for the most part.

Thanks for the reply once again. I have just put something together my self.

Intel Core i5 4690K
Asus H81-Gamer Motherboard
GIGABYTE R9 270X
HyperX FURY Series 8 GB
Western Digital WD10EZEX Blue 1 TB
Corsair VS550

What do you think of this? Without a case it comes out at around £530.
I also need to find a case that will fit that card.

Drop that PSU, get the EVGA B2, you'll thank yourself later.
Also drop the 4690k to a 4590 (saves ~20-30 right there) because the motherboard doesn't support overclocking anyway.
Also go for the WD Black (like I said), since there is a HUGE improvement in performance
For memory, make sure it's 2x4GB and not one 8gb stick.

I cannot find that PSU on Amazon UK plus why is the WD Black so much more?
