I have read about a few similar issues to this but have been unable to resolve my issue and am looking for some help. Once upon a time a router and a switch met on a network...
So basically when I have the network configuration as below everything works swell.
However, when I add a switch as shown below then the HTPC will not playback movies from the media server without constant buffering
On the unmanaged switch the router/modem and media server connectiona are showing a 1000 Mbps link and the HTPC connection is showing a 100 Mbps link.
I have tried two different unmanaged switches so I dont think thats the problem. I have tried both a regular patch cable and a crossover cable between the router/modem and the switch and that makes no difference. I have also used the NetIO-GUI app to test network speeds between the htpc and the media server and get a constant 11MBPS result in both configurations (and no, this isnt my internet speed as Speedtest.net shows my internet speed at 35 meg per sec).
Any ideas are VERY much appreciated.
