As stated, I have an old ASUS Sabertooth X58 that I'm building and I would like to find a RAM kit of 6X4GB =24GB that will work with this board. I could also buy the RAM stick in different quantities if I knew for sure it would recognize all six sticks, 24GB total once I bought them all. It starts to get expensive just guessing and hoping. I was hoping the 6X4GB 1066MHz sticks of Gskill Ripjaws would work. I am able to run them stable at 1333, but the board only recognizes 8GB RAM. The CPU is i7 920 at stock settings, GPU is an ATI 5770 (for now) and a Crucial 850 PSU so power isn't an issue.

If anyone actually has this setup going, I really love to know the RAM you're using.
Thanks.

What set of Ripjaws? The F3-12800CL9T2-24GBRL? Or you have a couple or more sets of 2 or 3 sticks. If sets as opposed to the model number listed which is a complete 6x4GB set then it's a crapshoot. The actual T2 set should work, though for 1600 will prob need a decent CPU OC, may need additional DRAM voltgae, additional QPI/VTT voltage (to feed the MC (memory controller)) and will want the latest BIOS

You can mix kits (it is not recommended) if you have to. You just want to match speeds and latencies which is measured as CAS. It starts to become more important the more you overclock the RAM and the faster speed RAMs. If you are not overclocking your RAM you might get away with mixing them.

As for the system not seeing all of your RAM this was a common problem with x58 boards. It was do to insufficient Uncore and RAM voltages. If you are running XMP Profiles then make sure your RAM voltage is set to the specs on your RAM these older boards tended to not set the voltages high enough. Also you will need to bring the QPI voltages up if you are BCLK overclocked as well. What is your BCLK set too right now?

When I ran x58 I only ran triple channel as a result and never ran 6 ram chips especially when I was overclocking.

Not sure if this helped.
