I just bought myself two SSD's; a Samsung EVO 850, 500GB, and a PNY CS2211, 480GB. I installed Windows 7 on the EVO and my Steam games on the PNY.
I have another computer, in which I have a Western Digital Blue 1TB drive. I installed Windows and the same Steam games on this drive, with no other partition. The drive is fresh, new as well, just had it for 3 weeks. It's probably filled up to 300GB.
So I wanted to test out the loading time differences between the two computers. The first computer, the one with the SSD's, boots quicker, as it should but not by much; maybe just a few 3 or 4 seconds faster than the second computer. Then I tested loading times on Fallout 4. From the launcher to the main screen, took the same amount of time on both computers BUT from loading the save file to the gameplay was faster on the HDD.
It took 21 seconds on the loading screen to the game on the SSD.
It took 12 seconds on the HDD.
On other games like GTA V, loading times are faster on the SSD, ONLY when loaded for the first time. After the first time, loading times are faster on the HDD.
Although, everything else is much faster on the SSD's, like transfering files, which was 300MB/s from SSD to SSD.
UPDATE: Could it be because I only copied my SteamLibrary folder to my SSD from my old HDD instead of downloading and doing fresh installs of the games?
