Hi.
Is it worth to upgrade from Q8200 to an i3 6100 CPU?
How big is the difference between them in gaming?

I know it is 4 cores vs 2 cores+HT but will the new architecture provide better performance in practice?

Yes, that will be a huge upgrade. Should roughly double performance. Factor in potential improvements in RAM, add an SSD and I think you will be veery happy with such an upgrade.
