Would it be worth upgrading from a i5 6500 to an i5 6600k?

Hi all,

I recently build my first system with an i5 6500 but what I'm wondering is if I should upgrade to an i5 6600k.
At stock speeds would I notice much difference in gaming and general tasks? Obviously there's always the option to overclock.
I just don't know if it's worth the money.

300 Mhz difference between them. 45 dollar difference, 15 bucks per 100 Mhz. at that price the CPU (6500) should cost 15*32=480.00
is it worth it?
I know this isn't a fair comparison but you will be paying 15 bucks more for each 100mhz.
I do not think the difference will be noticible.
the 6600K uses almost 1/3 more power too.

Not forgetting the money that will have been wasted for the i5 6500. If it's been put into a rig, even if the rig was only built recently, it will sell for a minuscule amount of money.

If you were choosing processors without having already bought the 6500, it would probably have been worth it for the increased stock clock and unlock, but since you've already bought that proc I would say stick with it unless you can return your 6500 or less it for close it retail price. It's really only worth it if you want to overclock
