Best configuration to boost WiFi signal and maintain wired speed via ethernet connection?

I am trying to boost my WiFi signal on the main floor of my home. My TWC Arris modem is on the floor below main. I have Ethernet in the main floor room I use as home office, and is connected to my cable modem. When I connect my laptop via Ethernet, I get DL speed ~300Mbps. I’ve have a spare Tenda W268R router that can be configured as AP, Bridge, or Repeater. When I connect the Tenda to the Ethernet jack using one of the 4 (non-wan) ports, I can improve the WiFi signal and my DL speed is ~30Mbps (about 3x better than the signal from the cable modem downstairs. However, when I connect laptop via Ethernet to the Tenda, my speed is slightly faster than Wifi, but is about 10x slower than Ethernet without the router. I’ve tried a variety of configs and cannot get the wired connection anywhere close the speed I get without the Tenda router. Is it reasonable to expect the Ethernet connection through the router should approximate the speed of not using it? What is the best practice to boost my WiFi, AND maintain my wired speed when connecting via Ethernet?

I've used several different cables that are 5 or 5E, and tried them first plugging direct to wall outlet, then doing the speed test to verify they deliver the ~300Mbps. The house is ~6yrs, and plumbed with 5E.

Confirm the speed on the Tenda per BadAsAl.

Not sure what all is/was included in "trying a variety of configs". However, have one suggestion that you may have or may not included:

Try manually setting the speeds and duplex via the devices versus some "auto" or "auto-negotiate" option.

Or if pre-set to a specific value already, try "auto".

Some devices do not play well together per se.

Ah Hah! I found a Cisco M20 router in my spares box that is Gigabit, gave it a try and that solved the ethernet speed. My DL is now greater than 300 Mbps. The Wifi is significantly slower (~40Mbps), however an improvement over the speed I was getting with the weaker signal.

FYI - I have the Cisco set up with same SSID, Authentication, firewall off, and DHCP disabled,. I have the cable modem set to Auto for channel, and the Cisco set to 6. When I had them identical, it seemed to run slower.

New anomaly... After I configure the Cisco and plug into the Arris, I cannot access the Cisco administration/setup without a reset. The default IP on the Cisco is 192.168.1.1 and the Arris is 192.168.0.1. When I changed the Cisco IP to the Arris range (192.168.0.220) it didn't help.

The problem with wired speed is fixed - Thank you!

Static IP on Cisco - correct? Reserved by MAC?

Could the assigned IP be conflicting with another device - does not appear that you have that many devices but that could happening....

Check the subnet masks also.

Arris range question: i.e., the Arris is set to allow DHCP addresses up to and at least include 192.168.0.220.

Just wondering about the 192.168.0.220 selection.....
