Is AMD AM3+ stock cooler compatable with an FM2+ motherboard?

A friend of mine recently bought an AMD fx8350, he bought a 212 eve to use as his cooler and gave me the stock cooler. I was looking to over lock my Athlon X4 860k but the stock cooler is not sufficient. I was wondering if I could use the FX8350 stock cooler since it is meant for cooling a more powerful chip. Thanks!

If you are hoping to over clock any kind of chip, it is best for the chip if you use an after market heat sink, such as the hyper 212 evo.

In answer to your question, it appears that the stock cooler for FM3+ will not fit due to the layout of the pins. But I am not 100% sure.

My recommendation would be to get yourself an after market CPU cooler, they are not that expensive and are very much worth it

If you buy that cooler you are wasting your money ...

That's an Athlon X4 750K at 4.6GHz on a GB FM2+ ITX motherboard using the AMD stock 125w copper heatpipe cooler...

with a thermal margin of 19.5C
