It's hard to be sure without actually hearing this clicking. Does it sound like the click of death, or just the normal sound of a drive starting up? It could be that the drive(s) are just being put to sleep and are having to wake up when they are accessed. That will cause the system to hang for a few seconds until the drive is ready again. Try disabling drives going to sleep in power settings and see if the problem just goes away.

Yea sorry forgot to give that information I used the western digital software and since the other drives are Samsung I used there magician software for the ssd. As for the noise its like faint humingsound that starts to go to a high pitch and at that point the click comes and then its bk to normal. I hope this explains it better

Hi there domjam,

So, you have two hard drives right? I believe your SSD has nothing to do with the clicks and the system hangs.
Have you run both short and extended DLG tests on your WD Black. You can test your other drive with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Which drive that you try to access when these hangs/freezes occur?

I believe it will not hurt to try swapping cables(both SATA and power ones). You can try to attach the drives to different SATA ports as well.

It would be a good idea to back up the most important information stored on the drives until you sort this out.

Let us know how this goes,

i have 3 hardrives .2 are on the 6gb connections being the samsung 840evo and the WD black. the hanging seems to be coming more frequent now and loading times for starting up games seems to be getting longer.. strange thing is it is allso effecting the SSD. .like for example clicikign the folder will hang then go to normal..or running a game wil take longer to load but everything will be fine once the game has loaded. but booting into windows is still fast. so im not sure whats going on...im thinking to just get a WDB 2TB and switch the old WD from the the 6gb to the standerd to replace the other drive as that needs replacing anywaz.
