So recently I upgraded my PSU and GPU to a GTX950 from intel built-in graphics but I don't want to stop here. I'm currently using i3-3240 3.40 GHz which is fine but I'd like to upgrade to something that would allow me to multi-task and feel the difference in speed. I'm not looking for anything fancy just a low-budget with a good price to performance CPU.
I can spend maximum of a £150 and would appreciate any tips and advice on this topic as I'm still a newbie
Thank you

you might get some improvement moving to a Skylake i3 but that would require a new motherboard and new RAM so way more than 150.

Best you could do is probably move up to a used Ivy Bridge i5 or i7 which you might be able to find the 150 range. So that would be a i7-2600K or i5-2500K

I'm using a HDD. So there's no need for me to upgrade my CPU? I know that an SSD has a faster access speed so installing games on it would make them boot faster right?
