Recently purchased an SSD and decided to do a clean install with my Windows 7 disc. No problem installing. Installed all the motherboard drivers, graphic drivers, etc. However when I try to update Windows 7, it gets stuck on "Checking for Updates." I'm currently trying to upgrade it to Windows 10, but the Windows 10 upgrade is now stuck at "Checking for Updates." I'm not using wifi and have been able to download and play games, but cannot update Windows. Any ideas?

Build:
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
Samsung EVO 850 260 GB
AMD FX-8350
GTX 660
16 GB of RAM

Solution
How long have you left it for? On a new build it can take ages to work out what updates need to be applied. Perhaps leave it overnight (make sure network connection is good) and check in the morning.
