MX Master Driver Issues

Hi. I purchased my Logitech MX Master mouse a few months ago, and have been using it for a while now. I had been using it with the unifying receiver, and not its Bluetooth capabilities, so recently, I decided to give it a shot and free up a USB port.

The connection was OK, but rather unstable (my laptop's bluetooth card is crappy). It often skipped around, and I had to turn off my mouse and turn it on again a couple of times because the cursor had frozen. I was really tired of the poor performance, so I plugged the receiver back in. But the cursor wouldn't move. I figured the computer was confused because I had the mouse connected to Bluetooth and with the receiver at the same time. So I tried to remove the device from the Bluetooth connection, but it wouldn't let me so I rebooted the laptop. That seemed to work, but for some reason the cursor froze often, and I had to turn the mouse off and back on again for it to work. Then, today, after a couple of days of that hassle, the cursor froze entirely and it refused to move whatsoever. It worked fine with my built-in trackpad, so I tried turning the mouse off and on again, but that didn't work. So I unplugged the receiver, and plugged it back in. That didn't work, either. So I rebooted the computer. But the computer just refused to accept any input from the mouse. In my Settings menu, it lists the mouse as connected via the receiver, and the battery on the mouse appears to be at three green lights (at the side of the mouse). But it does say in the Settings menu that there is a driver error with the MX Master. What should I do? I have rebooted the computer multiple times and also disconnected the mouse multiple times.

Is my mouse a defect? This seriously shouldn't be an issue for a $100 mouse. I really want to get back to using my mouse again....the HP trackpad is absolutely terrible. Could someone please reach out with a solution? I'm on Windows 10 by the way, if that helps.

Thank you so much! I had never installed it, so I just did, and it somehow magically got my mouse to communicate with my computer. The connection just seems so much smoother now, and the cursor never skips around.

You have solved my problem, but I have one more question. What do you think was the cause of the connectivity issue? Was it because I connected it to Bluetooth and the receiver at the same time?

Yes, that was probably it.
The mouse got lost in the maze.
