I ran a Windows Diagnostic and it told me I have a Memory Integrity Failure

When I try to play a game called Ark: Survival evolved, it lags out really badly and then my monitor goes to a black screen that says "no input". My computer is still on however, I'm usually in a voice chat with a friend and I can still hear them talking, however, neither my keyboard nor mouse respond at all. I have to shut down my computer to be able to use it again. I have no idea what I need to do, I've looked up a few things and figure I need some upgrades, except I don't have a clue as to what I need to change or buy. As stated in the title, I did a diagnostics test and I was told it's a Memory Integrity Failure. The screen said "Error code 0123 Msg: Error Code 2000-0123 Msg: Memory - integrity test failed". I can try to provide any other details requested for.

hmmmm well you have two paths. on stick with the pc you have and upgrade the processor and GPU. i know you can get core 2 quads for relatively cheap from ebay now a days but thats about as good as you can get from the 775 socket. as for a gpu if you want to save cash but be ok then grab a GTX 960.

but, and sorry about your friend, thats a great board and could really build you a nice box. with that i would say find an I5 in your price range and then add an gtx 960. not sure what the PSU on your current set up is now, sounds like a stock dell PC but you might MIGHT be able to use it.

TBH i would build a new rig with that board. if you want to play modern games at decent settings thats the way to go. your current set up is close to...

what are your system specs and what setting are you running ARK on? it can be a monster if you let it eat all system resources. also test your RAM go look at MEMTESTx86 that should scan it and see if you have any bad RAM which would be causing your problem... but it may also be video ram issues what GPU are you using?

ok first of all the game minimum is 1gb of video memory so it sounds like that card may be going out. since you would need all of it to run the game at minimum and nothing else seems to be crashing. id look at an upgrade the gtx 560 is a fairly old card. may be time for an upgrade

Hm, alrighty. I was thinking of doing a complete overhaul but I wouldn't know where to begin. I don't know when I would need a motherboard or CPU upgrade. If I were to give you the specs of those, could you help me decide on that?

As far as a budget goes I suppose is depends on what I would need. I don't need top of the line upgrades but I would like to not worry about having minimum requirements for games like that. I don't know if it makes a difference or is even compatible (not sure how that works) but before my friend passed, he left me an Asus motherboard Z97-A. I didn't want to mess with something like that until I was sure what to do.

cost more buy you will be happier. and reuse all the old drives and case and what not if you want to save money... altough you can always turn a milk crate into a case :)

Oh awesome, thanks so much for the info on that! I think I'll go with the second option and upgrade everything. Super helpful my dude, also my power supply is a 420 watt. Should I upgrade that as well? Everything else you've linked is well in my budget. :D

i would just because i doubt your current one has the right set of pin layouts and rail configs. also again its just one less thing to fail. stock PSUs generally dont do well on custom rigs.

glad to help always fun to build these :)

One last thing my friend, you wouldn't happen to know of a decent PC tower that could hold all of this stuff would you? I don't exactly know what to look for when browsing for those.

that's a personal preference based on looks really but your MOBO form factor is an ATX so just look for a case that will accept a ATX MOBO.

tons out there at varying prices you can use a mid tower or full tower or whatever fits your space requirements i like bigger towers but thats just me.

i have a corsair AIR 540 which i think is great and a nice cube shape
