Hi !

I'm gonna say this simple and straight.

I'm using Core 2 Quad Q6600 (G0 revision) 2.4 GHz with stock HSF and i don't have thermal compound :D seriously. (But i will buy thermal compound tomorrow.)

I just found out that my temperature is high with full load / nearly full load. (I'm playing Online Game, which is MU Online running 3 clients.)

Max Temp : 81
Min Temp : 74

So, i'm currently running 60 - 70+ temp (Check the screenshot below)

My question is :
1.) Is my CPU running too hot ?
2.) Is my CPU fine with this temperature ?

P.S
I used Open Hardware Monitor to check my temp.

I would appreciate any reply as soon as possible. Thank you in advance :) <3

Solution
You HAVE TO HAVE THERMAL COMPOUND!

Of course, you are gonna get high temps. It is good you haven't fried your CPU yet. It is VERY dangerous. You are lucky the CPU sits at 70-80 degrees only.

Do not use the PC. Buy thermal paste. Take off the CPU cooler. Wipe off old paste. Apply new. Install cooler.

Thank you so much for your quick reply.:bounce:

Yes ! Definitely. I will buy thermal paste later or tomorrow.
I'm just lazy to go outside lately :pt1cable:

And yes, i know my question is a bit silly but atleast you said i'm lucky with my temps without using thermal compound and with stock HSF only.

By the way, one last one. May i know what's the maximum temperature (TDP) of this CPU ?

Hey i'm back :)

I bought a very cheap thermal compound today (1$) and it's fine :) i always use this thermal compound and it's good.

My CPU is doing good as heaven right now and i'm currently running at 20% Overlock ( 2.8+ GHz ).
Running "3 Clients" Online Game, etc.... (Full load / Nearly Full load CPU).
