Took out the drive from a laptop that kept turning itself off only second after it turned on. I suspected it was the PSU. Anyway, connected the drive to a good laptop using a SATA to USB connector. The drive is recognized but when you double click to open it it asks to reformat the drive. I assume the bootable partition is corrupted.

I used recuva and it is readable and I can see the files. How can I make the drive be recognized like any other drive you have that is not corrupted so you can just double click and open the drive to swap files to my laptop?

The drive may look ok and you may of been able to format it again using the NTFS file system of windows.
But if at any point the drive becomes un readable again or the formatting is lost or you have trouble accessing the drive by a simple left click on the drive in windows.

It can a sign the drive has bad sectors or cylinders on it.
If not used as a boot drive you can set the drive to be a basic drive via windows disk management, and formatting tools.
Make sure while in disk manager that the drive is set to online mode, or it has an active partition set.

I imagine only recover tools would allow you to access it like that such as TestDisk(which can often fix these issues as well), it is a CLI program though. I think you can run it through a windows emulator like DOSBox and then user TestDisk to recover all files to a local folder.
