Hi guys. So I'm trying to overclock my CPU (i5 2500k) but having some problems with it in the bios. It gives me the option "CPU Clock Ratio" with the description "Set CPU ratio if CPU ratio is unlocked" but doesn't let me move it from 3.3GHz. I'm wondering why this is? Can I not overclock via this motherboard and do I have to use overclock software instead? And if so, what software would you recommend. Thanks, specs below

CPU - i5 2500k
MOBO - Gigabyte GA-Q77M-D2H
RAM - 16GB Vengeance 1600MHZ
HD - 128GB SSD, 1TB SATA
GPU - 660 GTX
PSU - Silverstone 500W
COOLING - Antec 920 Watercooler

Solution
If you want to unlock the CPU core multiplier, yes. Otherwise, you cannot do much more than BCLK overclock but since BCLK is used as the reference clock to derive all other clocks such as USB, PCIe and SATA, stable BCLK overclock rarely goes much beyond 5% - limited by your single weakest component across any of those interfaces.
