I was looking threw Amazon for 980 ti and there where a lot of different types. Some had different looking heat syncs some where slight more expensive and some slightly cheaper. And some looked the same but just different box. Why is this? And which one should I buy?

Every company has their own variant of a GPU. Some are similar but others are much different in their clock speeds. some companies will OC the cards and some wont. and of course their own look for the card.

if you dont care about the little bit of performance difference than go with which ever one will look better in your case.

but if you want the best performance i would go with then ASUS 980 ti STRIX model; from what i have read it is the best performing 980 ti.

^ Not sure what you have been reading but the Strix is not THE best one. However, it is a great card. Just like he mentioned they all have there variances of clock speeds with factory overclocks, cooling, aesthetics. The factory overclocked cards are just a extra bump of performance for an extra cost, which you can do yourself for free so dont let that sway you to think it will be a huge difference in performance. Maybe 1-5FPS. Buy the card that fits into your budget and looks the best to you.

I'm wondering the same thing, my motherboard is asus and I like the brand, so I'd rather get an asus. The Strix is 16 in long though, I have a regular case, not sure how that will fit in there. I need to measure. CPU is liquid cooled. I'm only going to use it for VR Rift, won't play other PC games. There is also the asus matrix now, only 11 in. There is a ZOTAC GeForce GTX 980Ti that's the cheapest.
