So just ordered a SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive, and was wondering when i get it how would i transfer my OS from my current HDD to it without any problems.

Solution

Yes. You will of course, have to clean out all the original bloatware.
And then reinstall your applications.
Samsung has a free ssd migration tool that you can download.
The one that comes with the ssd is likely old.

If the used space on your hard drive can not fit, there are options to exclude large files such as videos and photos.

Once the copy/cloning is done, replace your hard drive with the new ssd and boot from it.

You can remove your HDD, install windows to the SSD, setting it as the boot drive, and then replugging the HDD, deleting all traces of windows off it.
IF you had the OEM version of windows, I don't think there is any way to do so.....
I THINK there is a migration tool you can download, but not sure where from.

How much total used space is on your current C partition?
How much of that is Doc/Music/funny cat videos?

That is the problem point. You can't clone only the OS.

So if i factory reset windows to from the recovery option so it wipes all programs on C drive beside OS , then clone it to the SSD that would work right? after that i would have to go into bios and switch my boot drive then delete the OS from the HDD?
