My boyfriend is a huge world of warcraft fan. His computer "sucks" so I'm trying to find a good one to buy him for his birthday. I basically know nothing about computers so I'm interested in what a good desktop would be for him. He doesn't like apple or all in one computers. My spending limit is about $650. Any suggestions would be amazing.

I would spend just a bit more on the CPU in the above build ^, The i5-6400 or 6500 are not that much more expensive when you consider the fact that the computer will last for easily 3 years for gaming, and they will enable a more even frame rate in games and make the system overall faster. The i3-6100 is a good pick if you really can't spend the extra $60 for a i5-6400 or $75 for the 6500.

If you know the exactly system he is using now, it may just need a better video card. My son-in-law got a decent Lenovo tower with a core i5 CPU but a bad video card, installed a low end gaming card in it for him and games run much better with under $100 spent.

If he doesn't need a monitor, keyboard or mouse and you feel that you can manage to put it together or have a friend who can do this for you, this is a solid build which will perform very well.
