First of all this are my PC config -

CPU -> i5-4690k (overclocked to 4.3 Ghz)
RAM -> Corsair Value Select 16GB 1600 Mhz
HDD/SSD -> Samsung 850 Pro 512GB | Samsung 850 EVO 120GB | WD Caviar Blue 500 GB | 3xWD Caviar Blue 1TB (3TB)
PSU -> Corsair VS 550
OS -> Windows 8.1
Monitor -> 2 x LG 23MP67HQ

Now coming to the problem, all my hard disks and ssds are having half speed in real world than benchmark. Like WD 1TB is scoring almost 196mb/read | 191mb/write but when I'm copying files from one hard disk to another the speed is getting decreased to around 65mb/s.... Same with SSDs, benchamrk read/write is almost 560mb but when coping files it's 260mb... BTW, I'm using SATA 3.

Real world operation -

As you can see I have marked 2 drives. "N" is 1TB WD and "I" is Samsung Pro 512GB SSD. Now the WD drive is not utilising it's full speed to write data. Because the Samsung SSD has read speed of 550 - 570mb/s. I know hard disks can't go that fast still it should utilise it's full speed which is almost 200mb/s. And same with SSDs, you can copy data at 260mb/s average not at 550 - 560mb/s while 560mb/s is benchmark result. :(
This is the case with me... In benchmark drives and ssds are having jet speed, in real world they are really slow :(
I'm also using windows inbuilt SATA controller which is set to AHCI. Tried teracopy to improve the speed but that didn't helped. I think something is capping the speed.. Kindly help me.

Solution
Hey there, earth50!

I'm sorry to hear about your performance issues! :( I'd recommend you to check the connections inside the PC case and make sure that everything is mounted properly. I'd also try swapping the SATA cables between the drives and check the transfer rate again afterwards. If it's still not improving, I'd suggest you go to the motherboard manufacturer's website, download and reinstall the SATA controller & chipset drivers from there.
Have you tried resetting BIOS as well?

Another thing you should do is check for any firmware updates on the SSD and run the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics for Windows on the HDDs to determine their health and SMART status (make sure...

Not uncommon. Manufacturers often use ideal situations for benchmarking.

Look at independent test results.

You have a lot of drives installed okay per se but that all imposes some loading on system that "divides" resources.

Look at the Processes and Services tabs in Task Manager. What else may be running and otherwise taking resources?

Try removing as many hardware devices and background processes/services/applications as possible.

Run your benchmarks again and then add back something. Benchmark again.

Tedious but necessary to find the applicable bottleneck(s).

Hope this helps. Keep us posted with the troubleshooting!
