Question about PLX chip

I'm using an ASUS VI EXTREME Mobo. I'm noticing a PLX chip temperature of near 60C when gaming. I did some research and was left confused regarding the plx chip.

I'm using a single GTX 980 GPU (using the second VGA slot):

Some people say I shouldn't even have the plx chip active? Does VGA slot affect the plx chip?

I need some concise answers regarding this so here I am, this website has yet to fail me.

If there is something I am missing about this motherboard and the way the plx chip works - please educate me. I've tried to do some research and have yet to reach a decision

Solution
I don't know what the safe limits are for the PLX chip myself. I could try looking them up.

60C is a pretty high temp overall, but generally not dangerous for most electronics. It's probably fine.
The PLX chip is between the graphics PCIe slots and the CPU. It is therefor active even if you are only using one graphics card; it just isn't using all 48 lanes it has, only 32 lanes (16 to the CPU and 16 to the card). If you put in a second graphics card, then all 48 PCIe lanes of the chip would be in use (16 to the CPU, 16 to the first card, and 16 to the second card) and it might warm up a bit more.

I see, so how bad would a temp of 60C be while gaming (for the plx chip)?
