Hiya,
I recently purchased a MSI R9 290X and was wondering if a 600W power supply would be enough, it will be a corsair unit. I'm running an i5 4460 and will be doing no OC'ing.
Thanks! :)

AMD R9 290x is an decent but power hungry GPU.Rated TDP is 290W and practically approx 300W core i5 4460 is excellent match and its TDP 84W . so you might go for a 750W decent high Quality PSU so that u shouldnt be worried about power while gaming.More PSU will allow you to OC if you want in future.

First and foremost, what is the make and model of your PSU? That makes a big difference.

A 4460, 290X with 2 sticks of RAM, 1 HDD, 1 optical drive and 3 case fans will pull 485w under max load, which is slightly out of the ideal range for a 600w PSU but for a quality unit, it's just fine. Most of the time your system *will* be in the ideal range, even while gaming, as 485w is peak power.

I don't suggest adding any heavy power draw components, though (an SSD would be fine, they draw less that 3w).

Cheers!
