Okay, so at the moment I have a Palit Jetstream GTX 960 4GB Card, but my brother will no doubt be upgrading his EVGA GTX 970 SC to a 980 Ti in the future, I have a FX 4300 and that seems to be Bottlenecking my 960 So i would have to upgrade if I took my brothers 970.

Also, the FX 8370 Comes with the Wraith cooler so would cost me about £30 less as i wouldn't have to buy a CPU Cooler or Thermal Compound.

What would the best upgrade be? I would need a CPU that wouldn't bottleneck the 970 and would also run perfectly, preferably without an OC.

If I were you I would be looking into the FX 8370E. The FX 8370E is only 95W so it will run cooler, it has great overclocking capabilities, the newest performance tweaks and the best binning AMD has to offer. The FX 8370E also has 4.3Ghz turbo core so if you never overclock you will still be @ 4.3Ghz when you need the increased performance. I have seen the FX 8370E selling for as low as $150 US dollars so it is a good value. The really nice thing is the FX 8370E being only 95W will work with either of the motherboards you listed.

I am considering Changing to an i5 4460 but the added cost of buying a new mobo isn't something I would like.

Either the Gigabyte 970A-UD3P or the 970A-DS3P, im not quite sure... This is something I should really know isnt it?

The few places that have the 8370+wraith in stock in the UK at the moment are charging £200+ premium prices - I wouldn't entertain one at that price.
I was in touch with a few bigvetsimers the other week & the general consensus is its going to be 6-8 weeks before new stock comes in - the 8370 has never been a good seller & there's no sale or return on current stocks.

Would the 8370 with the original AMD Cooler be fine? I don't really plan on putting an OC on the CPU.

got to say just avoid the 220w chips - there more novelty than anything else and come with a few extra headaches - then if you go intel just skip skylake and do a hasewll on a z 97 board and save those headaches skylake just sucks all around limited and proprietary- [not hard to see] don't be a beta tester with it just do a haswell that's been tried and true wide chip selection no os issues like you may be stuck with 10 some 7 support removed and so on - haswell builds don't have these limitaions , man , skylake blows

Id go with an 8320+aftermarket cooler rather than an 8370 with the stock amd cooler - works out 20 quid less, youll hit 8370 speed with it easily, itll be cooler & quieter.

''Gigabyte 970A-UD3P or the 970A-DS3P'' ? 220w chip ? don't think so

theres only a hand full of boards that are truly capable of handling the 220w chips --

like beware of asus as well like from here

from specs '' Supports CPU up to 140 W ''
http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULAZ/specifications/

but shows 200w chips in the cpu list ??

http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULAZ/HelpDesk_CPU/

hmmmmm........ don't be fooled as a lot are and end up with a mess [ I bet that baby gets to smoking at full load for any amount of time , cooling nightmare ]

good luck
