Options for reverting back to Windows 7 from Windows 10

A couple of weeks ago I treated myself to a new computer running a clean install of Windows 10. I cannot get used to the look. It’s so flat like the original Windows and limited in terms of configuring the look and feel, colours, etc. Plus, I never know from one day to the next if the desktop shortcut icons I have created are going to display or just be a black box (yes I’ve tried every suggestion/fix/tweak I can find on the web!). Very petty maybe but to me it is extremely annoying and frustrating.

So I’m seriously considering going back to Windows 7. My basic storage setup is a Samsung SM951 128GB NVMe M.2 drive for the OS and programs and a 1TB HDD for all data. I’m considering the following options:

1) Learn to live with it.
2) Install W7 on the M.2 in a dual-boot configuration (preferred, I think!)
3) Remove the M.2 and replace it with a 120Gb 850 Evo (easier to install W7)
4) Scrub W10 (lose licence key for OS & Office 2016?) and install W7 on the M.2

The easiest & cheapest option is 1. From what I’ve read, options 2 & 4 could be messy to get the M.2 drive recognised and bootable under W7. Option 3 looks like the best compromise.

Any suggestions/help/advice/thoughts/other alternatives greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I jumped from windows 7 to 10. I was the same as you I transferred back to windows 7 but then changed back to 10. after some driver issues I had to work through it all seems to be working nice. My advice is don't fight it.
