Hi,

Hi, I havn`t posted on here before, hope I`m in the right section.

I`m considering buying a Nvidia Gtx 960 128-Bit , but I dont know if i need to upgrade my other components too, i`m using a cpu phenom II x2 555 3.82ghz and motherboard gigabyte ga 880ga-ud3h with 6gb ram at the moment,

Can someone tell me please, will this motherboard and cpu slow the graphics card down ,do I need to upgrade? I want to play witcher 3, just cause 3 at decent speed,

best regards,

Stuart

p.s to be more specific I want to the quality to be as good as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkxOr0ddbaw

My son is gaming using a AMD 7790 GPU with his 4.0Ghz phenom II quad core and has no problems. A GTX 960 is more powerful, but not ridiculously so, and so you could try getting a second hand phenom ii x4 CPU, and the GTX 960 should work even if it is bottlenecked a bit.

Don't consider buying a new AMD CPU, they used to be good, but now are completely outclassed by Intel. If you want to re-use your memory, get a CPU and mobo like mine. If you have a bit more cash, get a skylake i5

My sons phenom ii quad core 4Ghz CPU has about half the power of my Intel 4.2 Ghz Quad core.
Newer AMD CPU are no real improvement over phenom ii for gaming!
His AMD CPU is still good enough for gaming, but you can tell from the fan noise that it is working really hard to keep up
Will need upgrading to intel soon

2 core Phenom would not be much use these days
