Great! Just another part of the device that fails sooner than everything else.
Eventually, that screen will die much sooner than any older smartphone due to the fact that it never takes a break. If someone gets this phone in the future, if you find a way to turn off the screen completely, please let us know in this thread.

You know that backlight is still running 24/7 right? That'll be one of the first to go in this new "phone."[/strike]
(I know it partially turns it off, but it still shortens the lifespan of the screen regardless. Seems like they design things to fail these days to force you to get it repaired or upgrade. I'd rather fix it myself thank you. )
EDIT:
It seems I misunderstood the lighting technology in the new "AMOLED" displays where it only lights certain pixels, etc. But still, I hope to see the ability to disable this annoying feature when it's released. People are too dang lazy these days if they can't even press a button on their smartphone to read a notification. What happened to when phones were just that? Phones, nothing more.
