Alright so it's my first time going with an Intel build. I have done a little research but in the grand scheme of things I am, by no means, no professional. So far I have only bought 2 items for this build.
Mobo:
Asus Maximus VII Hero Z170
Ram:
8g G.SKILL Ripjaw V series Ddr4 (2x 4g)
Parts I have not got yet,
Samsung 850 Evo 500g ssd
Skylake I5 (3.5ghz)
Seasonic 750watt fullmodular psu

I plan on trying to over clock with this build, nothing too much but small over clocks to try and start getting into it. So custom WC loop is in the future.I plan on gamming in 2k and starting to learn over cloaking so I'm trying to accomplish both of these without going bank-rupt. I already have an AMD build and was thinking about the graphics card I already have. Would it be better to use the same GPU I have already and just buy another to crossfire them or should I get a different GPU for my tasks? The GPU I have is the
Sapphire 7870 2g Ghz edition
should i crossfire? If not what do you recommend?
And the monitor I plan on getting is the
ASUS ROG PG278Q Black 27" Gaming Monitor 2560X1440 , 144Hz.
My second question is should I get this monitor or should I plan on something different and saving a few hundred lol?
Sorry if this thread is wrongly placed or not gramtically correct. New to tomshardware lol.

Solution
You should definitely not crossfire, I would go for one of the 900 series or wait until nvidia and amd release the new gpu architecture. You need something powerful to game at 2k, so perhaps a 980 or 970 would be best, especially as 2gb of vram will be super unlikely to play modern games at that resolution. That monitor is amazing, you should definitely buy it if you can afford it and a good graphics card to run it at that resolution and refreshrate, otherwise consider picking up a 60hz monitor and gtx 970 if you are on a budget. The ideal would be the 980 and rog monitor, but that is expensive!

I would recommend selling your current gpu just because 2 gb of VRAM is barely enough on 1080p let alone 1440p especially with the current and new games coming out. I would suggest getting a 960 4 gb our 970 if it is in your price range or on the AMD side I would suggest the 380x or 390. Also the ROG branding on monitors is just a way of saying it is overpriced lol. Plus you cannot expect to get 144 fps unless you get a Fury card or 980 or 980 ti. I would recommend getting a normal 1440p monitor with a 60 hz refresh rate.
Hope this helps and good luck with your build! :)

I am on a budget but I have never owned a legit gamming monitor so I planned on spending a pretty penny on the monitor. Is the Nitro R9 390 8g be a decent siggestion? Im still looking at monitors but I'm thinking the RoG might be the winner. Any suggestions? Sorry for late reply, I'm still in my apprenticeship so I don't have alot of spare time during the week lol.

Solid motherboard and RAM choices. I would suggest using a Cryorig H7 for the CPU cooler. Cheaper than an AIO cooler and outperforms many of them. Water cooling would only be necessary if your were going for every last mhz in your system, otherwise, for most 24/7 overclocks, an air cooler is sufficient.

on a budget a 390 8gb is a good card for 2K but another idea is use a not as good card like a 950 and in 6-12 months get a newer better card
