The gigabyte ud3p 970A has the best power phase of all the 970 boards it has an 8+2 and runs very solid. There are some mouse lag issues in the bios but that is about it. I've seen scratches on traces on motherboards, parts ripped off, corrupted bios etc on open box motherboards. I would just go with the ud3p if you don't plan on going sli which it sounds like you never will. The ud3p is $64 right now so that is pretty hard to beat. I personally owned one and still have it in my abyss storage of stuff somewhere but I used it for a few years with no issues at all as kind of my secondary work vm machine with an fx 8350, and I pushed that system hard 24/7 sometimes for 6 months straight.

no, im not going to sli in my eyes its not worth it the power draw and heat is not worth it. Im only going to use a single card. the only reason i liked the 990 chipset is because one yes they are open box and are some what cheaper 2 some off the 990 chipset i liked have a 8+2 but the 970 has 8 phase that is good enough for the 6300. The main reason this that the 990`s are cheaper by like 3-5 usd less.
