Hi there guys, it's my first time posting here and I've had a little look for solutions to this problem but haven't had much luck in finding one either in language I can understand, or for my hardware in particular.

I'm currently running a Sapphire Tri-X R9 280X overclocked, but it can only support two monitors currently, and I'd like to run a third. I bought a Sapphire R5 230 cheap and I've gotten to the point where I can run two monitors still, one off each GPU, but never all three at once. I haven't tried using my HDMI to DisplayPort adapter yet, I've heard that at least one display needs to be on DP for over two monitors to work, but I thought I'd post here anyway just to make sure that I can actually accomplish what I want to accomplish.

I'm sorry if this is a really newbie question, I don't fiddle with hardware much, only when installing new parts and such. I'd very much appreciate if somebody could help me out and perhaps talk me through this. MOBO is an ASRock Z75 Pro3 if anybody needs to know, and my power supply is 650 watts.

Thank you!

You 280x is capable of 3 displays. You would more than likely need an ACTIVE mini-displayport to HDMI adapter for the 3rd screen. My roomie can do 3 screens on a 7750, your card is 10x more capable.
