MSI GTX 970 4G GAMING with 1440p monitor

Hello,i currently have a 1080p monitor paired with my gtx,I'm planning to get the asus mg279q monitor, will i be able to run most games at 50+ fps?
My specs:
Msi gtx 970
I5-6600k @ 4.5 GHz
Gigabyte GA-Z170X-GAMING 5
Corsair vengeance LPX 2x8GB (2800MHz)

got the same graphics card heavily overclocked and run 1440p

yes it handles most games at 50fps plus though not always with every setting at ultra high

i got a 970 (actually 2 now) and a 1440p monitor usually i played games at 1080p because i like higher settings over high resolution but a 970 will play most games max or near max settings at 50-60+ fps
how ever if you want both just overclock the crap out of the card
