Hi and thanks for reading.

My old self-build (ASUS P5B-MX if interested) is dying at last -- I'm going to go for a new board/CPU, with new graphics card and RAM.

I'm not a gamer, but I do some fairly intensive video editing on Sony Vegas and would like to be optimised for that.

My only other stipulation is that I will be installing at least four internal SATA hard drives.

I'm thinking maybe an i3 core although I could be persuaded otherwise. I would prefer not to go over £350 for board + card + CPU + RAM and I will be buying from the UK.

Would be the best route in your opinion? I welcome all thoughts.

Thanks for a great answer ScrewySqrl.

Still reading the thread if anyone wants to add in other ideas.

I'm wondering whether there is a cheaper graphics card that wouldn't compromise too much... but I can check that out myself of course...

Thanks again!

Why 16GB of RAM with an i3? Can it even use that much?

AS Rock is a good quality, relatively inexpensive board

I've seen people have probs with them though including reviewers. Put it this way: any reason why I shouldn't use the ASUS H170 pro instead?

I have relationship with ASUS since the old board lasted years and years... maybe I feel brand loyal ^_^

I thought about scaling back the RAM you recommended but I think I like the headroom.
