I have a alienware 15 with a 128gb ssd [boot] and a 1tb storage my question is if I don't need storage can I get rid of 1tb drive and laptop will run cooler and faster no hard drive to spin thanks mike

Solution
• Run cooler?, not necesarily.
• Run faster?, only if it was constantly accessing data stored in the 1TB HDD.
• And if you don't need storage, there is no point in keeping the HDD.. better remove it and save it from suffering wear.
• I'd suggest buying a USB adapter so you can quickly connect the HDD only when you need to.

I'm not a gamer I use laptop for browsing internet an music so 128 is enough the disk drive is hot to touch so ithought removing it would keep cooler and laptop wont work to spin it

I think hard drives only consume a few watts, which I doubt is enough to noticeably impact the overall temperature of the laptop. And as someone mentioned earlier, if you've moved everything on to your SSD already, it won't make things any faster.

It doesn't hurt to remove it if you're not using it, but you're not going to gain much either.

Also, out of curiosity, why did you get a gaming laptop for media and web surfing?
