Hi guys. I bought the Corsair RM1000 PSU last week with a new Cooler Master Storm case. I rebuild my mobo over from old case into new one. Started pc up and ran it for approx 3-4 hrs while updating Windows (52 updates with numerous restarts). Also installed new antivirus software which also did its own restarts. Last I was busy doing was running defraggler (SSD installed) and a system scan. I left the pc for about 1 minute and on return found the pc off. Lights on the mobo is on but all else is off, fans, hdd, cpu fan etc.
Tried to restart nothing. Reset also nothing. Tried another power cable still nothing.

Could this mean a failure of the PSU? or Mobo?
On the PSU I used the top power row outlet connections. Just below are PCI-E and 4+4 CPU connections. I was not sure of these connections since there is no description as to where you use what. So I used the biggest cable 24 pin and connected that to the mobo 24 pin connector.

Mobo ASUS Crosshair V Formula Z
CPU 8 core AMD
Corsair 16GB (4x4GB)
x2 CD-ROM
1x SSD
1x HDD

Many thanks

Hallo CountMike,

Had the PSU tested today, by luck since it is Sunday, by two different pc shops. The PSU tested dead by both. Very unfortunate were the remarks, but things like this do happen. Taking it back to the supplier tomorrow. It worked for 3-4 hours since new out of the packaging. I guess this is very unlikely, especially for Corsair.

W.r.t the defragging. I was informed to use defraggler from piriform. It optimizes (main function of the program though it can defrag too) the SSD not defragging it as on an HDD.

Thank you for the reply and help :)
