How to connect Astro a40 mixamp to speakers?

Hey guys, recently bought a soundplate that has an optical port. But my sound card did not have an optical output. So i bought the mixamp thinking i could connect the mixamp to the sound plate via the optical cord (mission accomplished) and then connect the sound card to the mixamp and that it would just ..... work.

But it doesnt ;/

Any ideas?

Which version of the A40 MixAmp do you have? There seems to be about 3 versions to date and the output(as well as the inputs) seems to have been rearranged. According to the manuals found off Astro's support site, here: your product's manual states that the rear of your MixAmp Pro has a 3.5mm audio output port that can be used to connect a speaker system to it though mind you it's only capable of outputting in stereo mode.

Something worth reading into. You may also want to include your full system's specs as well as the device you're terming as the soundplate.
