I currently have a i5-2320@3GHz
4 GB RAM
Geforce GT430
I am going to upgrade and want to buy a gtx970 but not sure if it'll cause bottlenecking. Also thinking of adding an additional 4GB of RAM.
What else factors into an amazing gaming experience ? Do cooling fans, etc. help?

you need a good 500w power supply with enough pcie cables for whatever gtx 970 you get

I want to run games on Ultra 2k or atleast 1080p . If the R9 380 can acheive that I have no qualms.

Imma go for the gtx 970. It is supposedly compatible but requires a bios update Thank you :)
My GT430 is shit btw :/ It was supposed to be temporary .
A 500w psu would be enough right ? Does the brand which offers it matter?

what psu do you have?
you first need to get 4gb more ram for 8 total
and for a gtx 970 choosing the brand depends on what you are going to do with your 970 you going to overclock it or just play at stock settings
for stock setting a asus strix is great and silent for overclocking i'm told asus is very bad (dont know how both mine are beasts and overclock like bosses) but a msi is what most people will recommend for overclocking
