i downloaded a free version of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and i want to install it, because currently i have 32 bit w7 installed but i have 4gb of ram, so i need 64 bit windows. i tried to install but i get this message : this version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check you computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 ( 32 bit ) or x64 (64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.
How can i upgrade from 32 to 64 bits if it doesn't let me?

Hi

There is no such thing as a free version of Windows (7 ultimate)
It is effectively a 30 day trial version unless hacked to remove activation then is illegal
(and possibly virus infected)

You have to take advanced option to format C: and do a clean install of 64 bit Windows it is not a simple upgrade

(unlike going from Home to ultimate (or pro) all x32 or all x64)

With only 4GB of RAM 32bit version gives 3.2GB to 3.5GB of usable ram depending on chipset & graphics card
