Hi!

I'm in need of some support. Sitting on quite an old system for the moment and would need an memory upgrade to make it run smoother with Adobe programs.

I recently installed a single stick: G. Skill F3-10666CL9S-8GBXL - Works good.

I would like to put in another one, so 2x8gb = 16gb. One problem is that the QVL list from ASUS is like 6 years old by now and I don't know if it's even possible to put in 2x8gb or do I need to have 4x4gb? Not an expert so don't really know if each slot has to be filled up for it to reach its maximum of 16gb.

Memory: http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-10666cl9s-8gbxl
Motherboard: https://www.asus.com/se/Motherboards/P7P55DE_LX/specifications/

It's supported according to G. Skill, but I can't get any info on 2x8gb.

P7P55D- E LX: 4 x DIMM, Max. 16GB, DDR3 2200(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture

Would really appreciate some help!

PS. If someone has tips on a smooth running system for Adobe and 3D-rendering. A midrange one and not too pricy I would love to hear your ideas.

Sincerely,
Igor

The QVL is just memory that was tested on the motherboard (they don't test every brand and model)
In the perfect world you would of bought a matched set of the memory the first time.
Buy another stick of the same memory and pop it in it should work if not raise the voltage from 1.5 to 1.55.

Will it be able to run in Dual? Or would I need a "set" from the start in that case?

Sincerely,
igor

Now I have recieved my second stick. I've gotten the amazingly awesome and fun problem with it not recognizing my total 16gb. Only 8gb usable. Neither BIOS or Windows can use the 16gb. It says 16gb in windows and CPU-Z and all other instances. I've have tested both sticks individually and they work fine, memtest shows nothing, resetted cmos a bunch of times. I've done the maximum memory thing aswell. I really need some help here. Both modules work fine and each slot is apparently NOT capped at 4gb per slot as 8gb/slot works fine?

2014 & 2016. They work in single mode with all 16gb available. ASUS support is arrogant and retarded so probably wont get anything from them it seems. The first stick is from like a year ago so I have no rights to return it really. I guess I have to take it as a lesson and be even more thorough next time.

Wow really? For free? Do I have to send it to the states? How long would such a swap take? Has to be the best freaking support i've ever heard of.
Sincerely,
Igor

You need to start the RMA process in your country or where G.Skill provide support for Sweden. I have the same motherboard and I can't figure out how it can support 8GB modules in dual-channel mode when the total supported memory is 16 GB. If all 16GB is detected in single-channel mode, then you should be happy. According to G.Skill support, the F3-10666CL9D-8GBNT kit works fine with that motherboard (or older 4GB modules that use 16 chips and were manufactured back in 2011).

8GB modules are unofficially supported, P55 and first generation Intel chip sets can support 8GB sticks, so 32GB total. 8GB modules were not available during release, so they were not mentioned. The key is double sided chips, which is why the 8GBNT kit can work because it is the last double sided 4GB modules G.Skill offers.

The motherboard is dual channel and should operate dual channel 2 x 8GB as long as you have them in the correct, same color slots.
