What parts of my computer should I upgrade first?

I'm looking to upgrade my computer and I'm not entirely sure what to upgrade first. I play games such as Arma 3 and DayZ on my current system and get about 30 fps. Some games run very poorly and I'm not sure whether to upgrade my Graphics card or CPU first.

My current system is this:

Mobo: GA-F2A55M from Gigabyte.
CPU: Highest one for the FM2+ Socket; The X4 860k.
Graphics Card: EVGA FTW GTX 750ti.
RAM: 8gb of HyperX Fury ram (another 8gb stick on the way as one died)

Please tell me what I need to upgrade for my system to run games like Arma 3 at 60fps on decent settings. Thanks.

My budget is around £400 - £600 (or $550 - $850)

Aside from the 750Ti, you've got a very old system there. You're probably best to approach this from the perspective of building a new PC from scratch, since your case, HDD, and PSU are likely to be holding you back as well. Check out some of the budget building guides on this site and elsewhere for ideas on a good gaming PC within your budget.

You could budget based on bringing your 750 Ti over from your old system and see how it goes. If you still feel you want more performance the last step could be upgrading to one of the Pascal or Polaris GPU's coming out in the second half of this year.

I see what you're saying here, and I'm glad someone else thinks so, as I've
been told that i could just upgrade my graphics card for better performance in non cpu intensive games. I've been looking at this current setup so far, so what do you think of it?

Motherboard: MSI Gaming 970 Gaming
CPU: AMD FX8350 Black edition 4.0 GHz (with 4.2GHz turbo)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB SSC w/ACX 2.0+
RAM: 16GB HyperX Fury
Hard Drive: WD Blue 2TB
Power Supply: EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W ATX12V

I already have:
Samsung 24x DVD/RW Drive
Gaming ATX/Micro ATX case i bought from a local PC store recently.

So how does that look? What sort of FPS can I expect on games like Arma 3, CS:GO, Rust etc?
