is the i7 6700k better than the i7 6820hk? for a laptop

Solution
So if you are talking about laptop guess we are comparing 6700HQ to 6820HQ or 6820KQ. So both 6820xQ series are better, since thy have slightly higher clock rate and higher Cache, which is good. The difference betwen the 6820KQ and HQ is that the HQ has some added hardware protection and similar, which is important only for extremely secure enterprise companies.

Yes 6700k generally is faster, unlocked and also a desktop cpu with higher tdp than i7 6820hk which has lower stock clock and also power consumption.

But in gaming i dont think you will ever notice any difference. The only difference would be if you do very cpu intensive workloads such as video editing etc.

most likely, the website is lying or they have something wrong. No laptop can have the 6700k for a few reasons. #1 Heat, the 6700k produces a lot of heat due to its high wattage. Wattage is the 2nd, with a whopping 91 watts, you're gonna need an incredible battery to keep that up. #3, its to dangerous, putting that in a laptop could cause it to overheat and cause damage, as in melting plastic. Or you're lap just hurting. All in all, the 6700Hq would be a better fit for a laptop.
