is that pretty much what a LNA does is slow the speed of a fan down so the same can be done with a fan speed controller but more control?

i have the be quit base 800 and i think one of the fans has one of these adapters but im not sure and the manual doesnt say so.

what do you guys prefer and why?

any recommendations on a good fan speed controller?

Solution
i keep all motherboard controlled fans on a low speed curve. roughly: 0% up to 40°C, 35% up to 50°, then up to 85% for 60° where it flattens.

i would remove the low noise adapter and use SpeedFan to set your own custom profile depending on how cool and how much noise you want.
an easier option may be to buy a nice fan controller and run them all through it where you have control of them from outside the case.

only 4 knobs but you can use splitter cables to attach 2x fans to each if needed: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004OEDYHY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_7&smid=AZCEI3EMXUPTH
