Just upgrade to a GTX 960 FTW 2GB Edition. 20-40 FPS on LoL?

I have an i3-530 at stock. Yes I know it bottlenecks the GPU a bit but it shouldnt be doing so this much! Why the major performance drop? I had about 90 FPS in LoL with a GT 9800. Please. Help. I will post all of my specs now. i3-530 , 8gb DDR3 1333 RAM, GTX 960 FTW 2GB and 500 GB HDD.

EDIT: Actually I just tried playing with bots and dipped to about 9 fps. CPU usage was at 8%

The GTX 750 Ti uses only about 10 watts less power than a GTX 960. The GTX 960 2GB AND 4GB models only require a 400+ watt power supply, but as you stated, when one receives one from a seller it does state the need for 28A off the 12V rail. Still, 400 watts is the only requirement often mentioned by sellers as a minimum requirment.

Btw, the GTX 960 is a great card for older systems that do have a 400 watt power supply. I upgraded...

Make sure you're running off the new 960 GPU instead of the Integrated GPU. This switch might happen when changing GPU's.
You should be able to change this setting in the BIOS, as well as in the NVIDIA Control Panel

Yeah I made sure I wasn't running off it. Here's the funny thing. Sometimes when I a match starts. I start off with 200+ FPS and quickly drop to 20-40. Then it just keeps dropping.

Your GPU might not be getting enough power. What is your exact power supply, and is your GPU properly connected with the PCI-E 6pin/8pin connector?

Download software like msi Afterburner and check if your GPU usage is acting wonky when the power consumption starts raising.

If this is the case, then you might want to go to Control Panel > Power Options > and check High performance. If it is not there, then click Create a Power Plan and create a new High Performance plan.

Any more information on it? Maybe post a picture of the specs on the side of it, or perhaps a link?

What can I use to I guess "print out" the entire pc specs?

Can you provide a link of the PSU, or take a picture of the side of it?

Is it this one? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276574

Exact one yup

Then that's probably the problem. The 960 requires 28A on the +12V rail, and your PSU is labelled to have 30A, but since it is such a low-quality cheap PSU, it probably doesn't output that.
On top of that, there's probably a lot of ripple on the rails, which makes the rail unstable and can't provide the right Wattage and Amps to the 960.

Get a good PSU, preferably Tier 1-2 from this discussion http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

I'll test that out. I will use both the 960 and the PSU on my roomates computer and see what happens. He runs a GTX 750Ti with an FX 6300.

You mean to use your PSU in his system? That won't solve any problems. since the 750ti uses much less power. Your PSU isn't broken, it's too poor for the 960.

Plugged it in on my roomates rig. 400 FPS on LoL at the start 200+ throughout the entire game. Here's the funny thing ; He has the exact same PSU as me.

-Do you have a secondary PCI-E socket to connect the GPU to? Preferably if it is PCI-E 16x.
-Have you tried updating drivers?
-Did you check if the core clock and memory clock get underclocked whenever the power consumption starts raising?

Then your PSU is faulty. I didn't expect that the 960 would work with that PSU at all, but oh well. Faulty or not, it's time to upgrade.

500W will be enough for that system, so i would recommend the Seasonic S12II 520W, which is a cheap, great PSU.
Other good alternatives are the EVGA 550 G2/B2/T2, XFX TS 550W.

I've tried all of this and the memory and core clock both were really low and when a game started running it went up to 1300 so it should be fine.

I'm going to upgrade everything but now this happens.

I switch GPU's with my friend and his R9 270X works fine on my system. 200+ FPS . Didn't switch anything but the gpu
