HI i have a ga 880g ud3h
and 2x 2Gb of Super Talent DDR3 2000mhz (which I know will run in dual channel)
but if I add 2x 4Gb of Ripjaws 1600mhz in slots 2 and 4 will both pairs still run in dual channel?

Im guessing the super talent ram will down clock to the 1600mhz or will I have to manually do it

thanks in advance

Solution
If it runs, which is uncertain since you are adding different ram (but it should run in most cases) you will have your 2x2gb running in dual channel and your 2x4gb running in dual channel since you have slot 1 + 3 in dual and slot 2 + 4 in dual. If it runs you don't have to do anything, your memory will automatically downclock to 1600mhz. However in my opinion you should consider selling your 2x2gb memory and buying 2x8gb to prevent the risk of any issues occurring.

That is correct. Your RAM will downclock to the lowest speed. I havent personally tried two different sets of ram together but I suppose it could be an issue depending on the manufacturer, but it might not be an issue

Its actually a 6gb kit 3 x 2gb. I intend on putting them in another build and getting another pair of ripjaws but in the mean time id like to use the extra 4gb if I can
