I have installed a TPLINK Archer T8E AC1750 wireless PCIE card into my new build and noticed it wasnt being recognized by my mobo system browser in uefi. The card's status light is illuminated but no detection. It is properly seated and was installed with esd precautions in place. Would it be reasonable for me to assume the card is not compatible with my mobo? Or is there some possible solution that I'm unaware of? Any help would be awesome and thanks.

ASROCK Z170M Extreme4 motherboard
Core i5 6600 (Skylake) CPU
EVGA gtx970 SSC acx2.0 GPU
8gb (2x4gb) HyperX fury DDR4 2133 ram
EVGA 750 P2 PSU
Samsung 950 M.2 SSD (installed in UM.2 slot)

this is just a theory I have read before, but the m2 uses x8 if im not mistaken so your card is forced to x8? or if its still runs at x16 wouldnt that leave your wirless card with not enough power? try removing the m2 and see if it runs?.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have the wireless card in the x4 slot. The card is a x1 card so I figured it should be fine in the x4 slot. The M.2 slot is supposed to utilize sata ports 0 & 1 when installed. The mobo manual makes no mention of it utilizing a pcie slot as well. I'll try removing it and see if it works. I appreciate you taking the time to help.

So I tried removing the M.2 and re-installing the wireless card in all of the PCIE slots and although the status led is still illuminated on the card, the motherboard system browser shows each slot as empty. I'm going to assume the wireless card is not compatible with the motherboard and opt for a different card. Perhaps a powerline adapter or usb dongle if it comes to that (haven't heard very good things about range and speeds). Thank you again for the suggestion.

As it turns out, it was the card. Picked up an Asus PCE-AC68 and was detected straight out of the box. Guess my motherboard just didn't like the TP-Link.
